Morocco Set to Become Africa’s Hub for Chinese COVID-19 Vaccine Production

The question was settled last week during a telephone conversation between King Mohammed VI and the Chinese president. From next month, Morocco will become the main producer and distributor of the Chinese anti-Covid-19 vaccine in Africa.
For the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, the anti-Covid-19 vaccine will be operational no later than early January 2021. The end of phase 3 of the clinical trials is also scheduled for November 15 next. In the meantime, Morocco will be entitled to 10 million doses, which will allow 5 million people to be vaccinated.
"We already have an idea of the effectiveness and safety. If within the different populations who have undergone vaccines of different nationalities, we will estimate that the product is good and given what is happening globally and given the socio-economic risks of the current situation, I think the use of the vaccine can become imminent. But I cannot say according to what schedule," the minister said on the Médias24 website.
King Mohammed VI has finally put an end to the uncertainties following the remarks of the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb. The kingdom will be able to ensure self-sufficiency in anti-Sars-Cov2 vaccination from next year. Even better, the country will acquire technology and infrastructure capable of dealing with an epidemic that continues to worry the international community.
