Morocco’s Services Sector Leads Employment, Accounting for 45% of Jobs

The number of people employed in the services sector reached 4,927,000 in 2019, or 44.9%. This is information provided by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) for whom agriculture comes in second with 32%.
According to the High Commission for Planning (HCP), of the 44.9% of people working in the services sector, 34.1% are from the trade sector, 12.7% are from social services provided to the community and 11.6% from transport, warehousing and communication, reports La Map.
For its part, the industrial sector, including crafts, has recruited 1,317,000 people, or 12%, thus surpassing construction, with 1,148,000 people employed or 10.5%, adds the same source. Nearly two-thirds, or 65.7% of active urban dwellers, work in the services sector and 17.5% in industry, including crafts, while the rural environment stands out with about 7 out of 10 active people, with 69.4% working in the "agriculture, forestry and fishing" sector.
According to HCP figures, the most common occupations are among "agricultural and fishery workers and laborers" with 19.4% of all active workers, followed by craft and related trades workers with a rate of 18.6% and "laborers in non-agricultural occupations, handlers and small trades" with a rate of 15.2%.
