Morocco Sentences 28 in Israeli Passport Fraud Ring, Including Police Officers

Members of a passport trafficking network for the benefit of Israeli citizens without Moroccan origin were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six months to six years. This is the verdict of the Criminal Chamber of First Instance near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca.
In total, 28 people, including seven Israelis and six police officers, were prosecuted for forming a criminal gang, participating in the falsification of official documents and records, forgery and use of forgery, and corruption.
In court on December 26, the judge sentenced the three main defendants to six years in prison for their involvement in the case, reports Hespress. Among them, Mimoun P., designated as the mastermind of the network. He used residence certificates to apply for the naturalization of Israeli citizens. The two other main defendants are Moroccan women. They are Ihssane J., Mimoun P.’s companion, and Amina B.
Three other people, including a Moroccan driver named Reda B. and another, a Moroccan Jew, who held three national ID cards and two passports in his name, were sentenced to four years in prison, the same source specifies.
In March 2019, the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) had dismantled an organized trafficking network, then arrested ten people. The latter are suspected of being involved in the forgery of Moroccan passports for Israelis for 50,000 to 70,000 dirhams.
