Morocco Sends Millions of Masks and Medical Supplies to African Nations Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Morocco is providing medical aid to several sub-Saharan African countries to support them in the fight against the coronavirus. A disinterested gesture?
Since Sunday, Morocco has been sending nearly 8 million health masks to about fifteen African countries. In addition to the masks, this medical aid consists of 30,000 liters of hydroalcoholic gel and 75,000 boxes of chloroquine, according to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation in a press release.
According to the ministry, these products and equipment are manufactured in Morocco and meet the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO). Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Mauritania, Niger, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal or Chad are among these 15 beneficiary countries.
In April, King Mohammed VI had announced the launch of a "solidarity action" in favor of African countries to allow "a sharing of experiences" in the management of the pandemic.
It is clear that Morocco has been multiplying diplomatic initiatives and investments in recent years towards sub-Saharan Africa.
The kingdom is one of the countries in the world that is managing the health crisis related to the coronavirus the best, which has earned it international recognition. As of this Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the official report shows 8,921 cases of contamination, 7,880 recoveries and 212 deaths.
