Morocco Sends Governor to Address Casablanca Airport Disruptions

The Ministry of the Interior has sent a Governor on a mission to "clean up" the environment of Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, which is experiencing social movements organized by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) baggage handlers and a lack of fluidity.
The malaise that the Mohammed V International Airport is experiencing persists. TelQuel, which reports the facts, indicates that an open conflict has opposed the national airline and its baggage handling subcontractor, General private interim (GPI), since April 2019. As a result, there were some malfunctions: late arrival of luggage, flight delays, exasperated tourists, ...
On July 2, there was still hope that everything would return to normal. However, the agreement reached with the RAM baggage handling subcontractor, after the negotiations initiated by the Ministry of the Interior, through the Governor of the province of Nouaceu, "unfortunately did not lead to a stabilization of the conflict", explained a source close to the file to TelQuel.
Faced with this development, the Ministry of the Interior is once again active in resolving the conflict. To this end, Mohamed Zhar, former Governor of the province of Al Hoceïma, has been "temporarily assigned" as Governor of Mohammed V Airport, confides the same source. His mission is to fight against the inconveniences caused to passengers and, by extension, to "clean up the airport environment".
