Morocco to Send 400 Religious Leaders Abroad for Ramadan Outreach

Questioned about "the religious supervision of Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs)", the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, stated that the government has made arrangements so that this operation will finally take place during the month of Ramadan, after several postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In response to an oral question asked by the Istiqlali group of unity and egalitarianism, concerned about the religious supervision of MREs, the minister indicated that it will be ensured this year by more than 400 preachers, reciters and ulema. This operation is intended for Moroccans in 9 countries.
To achieve this, the Moroccan Council of Ulema for Europe, embassies and consulates as well as mosque associations managed by Moroccans will be involved. It is actually for the religious supervision of MREs that the mosques and Islamic centers managed by members of the Moroccan community have received 150,000 copies of the Holy Quran, and that funds are allocated annually for the construction and equipment of mosques.
In 2022, some 104 million dirhams were allocated to 18 associations. Minister Ahmed Toufiq also mentioned the signing of various partnerships with these associations for the implementation of several projects for the benefit of MREs.
