Morocco Seizes 5 Tons of Adulterated Olive Oil in Food Safety Crackdown

A food quality control operation conducted in Taroudant has resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of products unfit for consumption. The intervention, which targeted two clandestine warehouses, led to the confiscation of nearly 5 tons of adulterated olive oil and its derivatives.
The intervention mobilized the competent services of the province’s economic department, in coordination with representatives from the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), local authorities, and police elements. Two warehouses were particularly targeted.
The seizure report lists several distinct products. In addition to the five tons of oil, more than 100 barrels of olives deemed unfit for consumption were seized. Unspecified quantities of harissa and preserved lemon were also found. Finally, equipment intended for illegal mixing and packaging of oils was confiscated on the premises.
