Morocco Seizes Over 180,000 Unsafe Phone Chargers in Major Import Crackdown

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, in coordination with customs services, seized 184,250 non-compliant mobile phone chargers from Asian countries on November 22.
The fight against non-compliant mobile phone chargers is intensifying through regular quality control operations. In total, 184,250 non-compliant mobile phone chargers were seized, following an examination of a sample of this cargo by an accredited laboratory.
The examination revealed that these chargers did not meet the compliance criteria. Consequently, these accessories were prohibited from being marketed in the Moroccan market because they pose risks to the health and safety of citizens.
In total, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy has impounded more than 932,000 non-compliant chargers that do not meet safety standards since the beginning of the year, whose marketing has not been authorized in Morocco.
192,000 non-compliant mobile phone chargers were seized at the port of Tanger-Med in October, while a cargo of 256,500 chargers from China was denied access to the port of Casablanca.
