Morocco Sees Surge in International Baccalaureate Candidates as Exam Approaches

Some 441,238 candidates will take the baccalaureate exam this year. Moroccan students show a particular interest in international streams compared to scientific and literary streams.
Among the 441,238 candidates, 318,917 are enrolled students and 122,321 are non-enrolled, according to the Minister of National Education. In his presentation to the government council, there is a 75% increase in international streams compared to the previous year. While 249,338 candidates will represent the scientific and technical streams, and 181,234 for the literary streams. About 10,666 candidates have chosen the professional streams, while 11 specific streams have 539 candidates.
For the national exam, the literary streams, the human and traditional education sciences will take the exams first, on July 3 and 4. Then the scientific and technical sections as well as the professional streams will follow from July 6 to 8. These arrangements in two phases are taken to the extent of respecting social distancing. To this end, some candidates will compose in amphitheaters and sports halls mobilized for the occasion. The results of the regular session will be unveiled on July 15, while the makeup session is scheduled from July 22 to 24, all streams combined, with the publication of the final results on July 29.
The minister also announces free access to the distance learning platform "TelmidTICE". This, in order to support students in preparing for their exam, and above all, to provide equal opportunities for students to access courses via the platform.
The issue of scholarships has not been left out of the minister’s concerns, who announces the filing of applications for 2020-2021 study grants, during the period from June 15 to July 31 at 10:00 pm. This filing, which concerns candidates holding a national or foreign Baccalaureate, must be done exclusively online.
