Morocco Sees 21% Surge in Diaspora Visits as 1.2 Million Return Home

Some 1.2 million Moroccans living abroad (MRE) and 280,000 vehicles entered Morocco as part of the Marhaba 2023 operation, according to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
This represents an increase of 21% for passengers and 14% for vehicles, compared to the same period last year, it is specified.
"Regarding the return phase, which will start in the coming days, and in order to ensure a smooth and secure passage for passengers in all Moroccan ports, the ministry recommends that all travelers wishing to return to their country of residence book their travel tickets in advance with confirmation of the date and time for all maritime lines, including TangerMed, TangerVille, Algeciras and Tarifa. In case of modification of the travel date specified on the ticket, the persons concerned are invited to contact the company concerned remotely before arriving at the port, in order to avoid any possible congestion at the port level," the ministry also indicates.
It should be noted that the Moroccan ports experienced an exceptional influx from July 29 to 31, 2023, welcoming some 117,042 passengers and 29,078 vehicles.
