Morocco Sees 407% Surge in Speeding Violations, DGSN Report Shows

Road traffic offenses related to speeding have increased by 407.15% this year, according to an infographic just published by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to figures from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), speeding accounts for 21.5% of all road traffic offenses in October last year, followed by offenses for not wearing a helmet, 8.31%, using a mobile phone, 3.83%, not respecting the red light, 3.7%, not wearing a seatbelt, 3.17%, not respecting the stop sign, 2.87%, not respecting the right of way, 2.02%, and driving in the wrong direction, 1.3%.
It is also learned that the number of vehicles fined in October reached 219,422, compared to 172,159 during the same period in 2018, an increase of 30%.
As for the number of reports, they increased by 11% in one year, from 55,337 in October 2018 to 61,636 in October 2019.
Transactional and Fixed Fines (ATF) collected, on the other hand, increased from 116,822 in October 2018 to 157,786 in October 2019, an increase of 35%.
