Morocco Sees 27,000 Workers Emigrate Legally in 2022, Mostly to France and Spain

Around 27,000 Moroccans left the country in 2022, according to the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri. These are regular departures through official channels.
It is in response to a question about "the mobility of the Moroccan workforce at the international level" that Minister Younes Sekkouri provided these figures. In detail, there are 14,579 workers in France, 11,429 in Spain, 109 in Qatar, 84 in Canada, 80 in Germany and 77 in Saudi Arabia. They work in the agriculture, air transport, hospitality, catering, mining and health sectors.
In addition to the agreement signed with Portugal to allow Moroccan workers to benefit from certain advantages, including family reunification, the minister stressed that "the government intends to put in place several agreements with the countries where these workers reside" in order to protect their rights.
Pending these agreements, Morocco is carrying out various actions in collaboration with these countries with the aim of attracting Moroccan labor, through the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills.
