Morocco’s Security Chief Suspends Top Officials in Salé for Misconduct

Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security (DGSN), has suspended several security officials in Salé for shortcomings in the performance of their duties.
Based on damning reports written by internal inspection commissions, Abdellatif Hammouchi has sanctioned heads of the judicial police, the anti-gang brigade, the regional security and public security as well as two district chiefs in Salé, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. They are accused of shortcomings in the performance of their duties and the commission of serious professional faults. Some have been dismissed, forced to retire while others have been transferred to other cities.
Suspected of having links with an individual who is the subject of a nationwide search warrant, three police officers have been transferred to Khemisset and Tamesna. The regional security chief of Laâyayda was immediately retired after benefiting from an exceptional extension of activity. Other police officers and officials, including three officers and a judicial police inspector, have been redeployed to other services.
