Morocco’s Security Chief Meets Mauritanian Counterparts to Bolster Sahel Cooperation

In order to coordinate the actions of the two countries, in order to better fight insecurity in the Sahel and Sahara region, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, received in Rabat his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Ould Makt.
The visit of Mohamed Ould Makt to the kingdom is part of a harmonization of the mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania, reports h24info.
For the occasion, Ould Maket was at the head of a high-level delegation that includes the Director of State Security in charge of the fight against terrorism and extremism, the Director of the Judicial Police and Public Security, as well as the Director of Borders.
The exchanges, during this meeting of security chiefs, focused on the growing challenges and risks in the Sahel and Sahara region, more particularly, on the idea of deepening cooperation to include the securing of common border areas. The objective here is to fight against the various forms of organized crime, in addition to the exchange of expertise, specifies the same media.
It should be noted that the Royal Institute of Police is currently providing advanced training to a group from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Police.
