Morocco Secures 65 Million COVID-19 Vaccine Doses for Free National Rollout

Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb said in a government meeting on Thursday that Morocco has ordered 65 million doses of the two vaccines it has identified for 25 million people.
In a statement read by the government spokesman, the Minister of Health announced that the preparations for the launch of the national vaccination campaign are very advanced. The entire targeted population will be vaccinated free of charge and gradually in accordance with the instructions of King Mohammed VI, recalled Minister Ait Taleb. According to him, only frontline personnel, including health personnel, public authorities, security forces and national education personnel, as well as the elderly and people vulnerable to the virus, will be vaccinated first, pending the rest of the population.
For the Minister of Health, training sessions have been organized on the selected vaccination sites as part of the preparations for this campaign. They aim to train the mobilized staff and avoid any obstacles that may arise during the effective implementation of the vaccination program. As for the vaccination sites, they have been identified based on several factors, including proximity, while ensuring the continuity of other health services. During these preparations, the Ministry of Health was supported by the Ministry of the Interior with staff deployed on the ground.
He also presented the data on the cold chain equipment put in place to preserve the quality of the vaccine from its reception at the airport to its use, as well as the computer system deployed by his department since the registration of the targeted citizens, post-vaccination monitoring until communication with the entire population, partners and professionals in the sector.
