Morocco secures its borders with Ceuta

The Moroccan authorities have decided to strengthen security along the border with Ceuta, particularly in Fnideq and Belyounech. This, in order to limit attempts of illegal immigration.
Additional security force units, as well as thermal cameras and drones, have been deployed along the border with Ceuta to strengthen surveillance and control, according to a source in the newspaper Al Omk.
These measures were taken after the local authorities in the North, in coordination with the security services, the Royal Gendarmerie and the auxiliary forces, implemented a special security plan to limit the massive influx of Moroccan migrants into the autonomous city.
Thanks to the proactivity of the security forces, hundreds of migrants have been prevented from entering Ceuta in recent months. On the night of January 1st, they managed to thwart the illegal entry of more than 1,000 migrants into Ceuta from the cities of Tetouan and Fnideq.
Surveillance has also been strengthened in Fnideq and in the forest of the commune of Belyounech. In addition, an investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to dismantle the criminal human trafficking groups that recruit candidates for immigration on social networks.
