Morocco Secures First Olympic Soccer Medal with 6-0 Win Over Egypt

The Moroccan Olympic national team wins the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In a match played at the Beaujoire stadium in Nantes, the Atlas Lions crushed Egypt with a resounding score of 6-0.
From the kick-off, the teammates of Achraf Hakimi showed their determination to win this historic medal for Moroccan football. Facing an Egyptian team relying on counterattacks, the Moroccans quickly took control of the match.
The injury to Egyptian star Zizo accentuated the Pharaohs’ drop in form. Taking advantage of this situation, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a powerful shot. Soufiane Rahimi doubled the lead three minutes later, bringing Morocco closer to the bronze medal.
Despite their efforts, the Egyptians failed to break through the Moroccan defense. In the second half, Bilal El Khannouss increased the score for Morocco, taking the lead to 3-0.
Soufiane Rahimi then scored his second personal goal of the match, making it 4-0. With a total of eight goals, he becomes the top scorer of the Olympic tournament. Morocco is thus the first Arab country to win an Olympic medal in football, and the third African country after Ghana in 1992 and Nigeria in 2016.
The Atlas Lions did not let up the pressure, scoring two more goals through Akram Nakach and Achraf Hakimi. The match ended with a resounding 6-0 victory for Morocco, crowning the team with the bronze medal, a first in the history of Moroccan football.
