Morocco Screens High-Level Officials for Coronavirus After Foreign Travel

Upon their return from missions abroad, Moroccan officials have undergone coronavirus screening tests. The health authorities, who maintain constant vigilance, plan to strengthen the control of travelers from Gulf countries.
"I cannot give the names of the Moroccan officials who underwent the tests, but I can assure you that the information is true: the virus does not distinguish between a minister and an ordinary citizen. Thus, all Moroccan officials, including ministers, who have traveled abroad or visited epidemic hotspots, have undergone medical examinations," a source close to the joint commission for epidemiological surveillance told Akhbar Al Yaoum.
Morocco is closely monitoring the evolution of confirmed or probable coronavirus cases in Arab countries, particularly in the Gulf. "Vigilance is therefore increasingly marked towards flights from these countries," the source said.
On Monday, March 2, the Ministry of Health confirmed a first case of coronavirus. It is a Moroccan returning from Italy. "His condition is stable and does not cause any concern," it is specified in a press release. Until now, Morocco had detected 27 suspected cases that proved to be negative.
