Morocco Scraps Travel Forms at Air and Land Borders, Sea Ports to Follow

It was on Monday, September 16 that the decision to abolish the embarkation/disembarkation form containing information on travelers departing or arriving in the Kingdom came into effect. The measure concerns air, land and sea transport.
According to the MAP, which has its information from a security source, this measure is part of the security services’ efforts to facilitate travel procedures and further streamline border crossings.
It will be applied, in a first step, to land and air border posts. At the level of maritime border posts, it would be necessary to wait two months, the time to set up a computer platform on board the ships, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
This measure, which will be generalized to all border posts in the Kingdom, comes, according to the same source, to crown the efforts made by the DGSN services to develop the border control system and ensure its effectiveness through the adoption of a new computerized border management system.
Known as the Border Post Management System (SGPF), it allows the digital reading of passports, the immediate insertion of personal information into databases, in addition to the detection of forged documents.
