Morocco School Year Begins Amid Dispute Over Private Tuition and Insurance

On the eve of the school year, parents wishing to enroll their children in public schools are faced with an obstacle: the lack of an insurance document.
Unable to provide this document, some parents plead for private schools to reduce their tuition fees as well as monthly payments. A request rejected by these establishments in view of the misfortunes they have suffered in the past year. They remain attached to their requirements, that is to say the payment of the first installment of the current school year. They also want financial guarantees in the form of a guarantee check for all the months of the current year.
"Students represent a commercial asset for these establishments in the face of the indifference of the Ministry of National Education," laments the first vice-president of the Moroccan National Federation of Parents’ Associations (FNMAPE) Abdelmalek Ababou.
