Morocco’s Satellites Map 250,000 Km2, Boost Agriculture and Water Management

The images provided by the two satellites, "Mohammed VI-A" and "Mohammed VI-B", have enabled the various ministries to develop 370 highly accurate maps covering several areas.
"Mohammed VI-A" and "Mohammed VI-B", the two Moroccan satellites for reconnaissance and Earth observation, have covered no less than 250,000 Km2 in 2019, according to the newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Moreover, they have made it possible to produce some 370 maps. These relate to many fields and have made it possible to refine the maps, topographic surveys, and accurately define the boundaries of agricultural land.
They have also identified water sources and effectively combated desertification.
The first official report on the mission of the two satellites launched into orbit in November 2017 and November 2018 respectively, avoids military issues, border surveillance and regional security, covered by the "defense secret" seal.
In addition, the same source emphasizes that Morocco is determined to advance in the acquisition of satellite technology. Thus, the year 2020 will see the launch of a program to build small satellites. The objective is to develop scientific research in Morocco and the gradual and progressive training of specialized human resources in space technology.
