Morocco’s Royal Palace Budget: 2.8 Billion Dirhams Seen as Justified by Citizens

The budget allocated to the royal palace, around 2.8 billion dirhams, does not seem high and is "deserved," according to the vast majority of Moroccans.
Unlike the United Kingdom, the monarchy in Morocco is the property of the Executive, which makes an invaluable contribution to the kingdom in terms of political and institutional stability, social cohesion, and international influence, says Jeune Afrique, citing a Moroccan economic analyst.
According to data from the Moroccan Ministry of Finance, the budget allocated to the royal family has two items, one titled "His Majesty the King," benefiting from 543.4 million dirhams, and the other called "Royal Palace" costing 2.2 billion dirhams.
Of the 543.4 million dirhams allocated to "His Majesty the King," 26.2 million are dedicated to the salaries of the King and members of his immediate family, as well as the pensions granted to the latter, and 517 million are allocated to "Equipment and various expenses" including the royal car fleet, receptions in honor of distinguished guests or awards to the king or members of the royal family.
The budget allocated to the Moroccan royal palace has not increased for more than ten years, "despite the expansion of the royal family and the acceleration of inflation," notes the newspaper, adding that for the vast majority of Moroccans, the royal family, guarantor of the stability and unity of the kingdom, deserves this budget.
