Morocco Road Accidents Surge: 13 Dead, Over 2,000 Injured in One Week

During the week of March 9 to 15, 2020, 1,613 accidents were recorded in urban areas. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated on Tuesday that the balance sheet for this week shows 13 deaths, 2,131 injured, including 59 seriously.
These accidents are mainly caused by the inattention of drivers, failure to give way, speeding, the recklessness of pedestrians, failure to maintain a safe distance, loss of control, lane changes without signaling, unauthorized lane changes, etc. In a word, by non-compliance with the highway code.
Regarding control and repression operations, the security services recorded 48,294 tickets and drew up 13,093 reports that were submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 35,201 transaction fines were collected.
