Morocco Reverses Plan to Dock Pay of Unvaccinated Government Workers

The government is renouncing the implementation of the procedure for deducting the salaries of civil servants and employees of public institutions who have not yet received all the doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine. The announcement was made by the Minister of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform.
In a press release, the ministry indicated that this decision was taken to encourage the positive commitment of civil servants and employees of public institutions in the fight against the pandemic. It also comes in response to the request filed by the trade union centers, asking for less rigor and more awareness. The third reason that led to this decision is the government’s concern to create a climate conducive to social dialogue with the social partners.
For the ministry, public administrations must be more involved in the fight against Covid-19, in order to ensure the safety of employees. Thus, civil servants and employees of public institutions are required to comply with the directives issued by the public authorities in order to limit the spread of the epidemic in Morocco and achieve collective immunity.
