Morocco to Resume Mandatory Military Service in 2022, Aims to Train 20,000 Youth

Suspended due to Covid-19, military service will finally resume next year. Some 20,000 citizens will make up the next contingent of those subject to service, a figure up from the 2019 edition.
This resumption aims to contribute to the improvement of the situation of young people by allowing them to serve their country and obtain training that opens up opportunities for professional and social integration, said the delegate minister in charge of national defense administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi.
To meet the training and accommodation needs of the next contingent, the FAR have set up four new centers: Benslimane, Sidi Yahia du Gharb, Benguerir and Tan-Tan.
The recruitment of the people who will be part of the next conscripts in 2022 is scheduled to start very soon.
For the record, military service lasts 12 months, 8 of which are devoted to learning trades and skills to prepare the conscripts for professional integration after their time under the flag.
