Morocco to Restore Diplomatic Ties with Israel Following US Sahara Decision

After the United States’ recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the upcoming opening of a consulate in Dakhla, Morocco has decided, in return, to restore its relations with Israel.
Here is the excerpt from the Royal Cabinet’s statement that provides the details:
Given the historical role that Morocco has always played in bringing the peoples of the region closer together and in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, and given the special ties that bind the Moroccan Jewish community, including in Israel, to the person of His Majesty the King, the Sovereign has informed the American President that Morocco intends to:
• Grant authorizations for direct flights to transport members of the Moroccan Jewish community and Israeli tourists to and from Morocco;
• Resume official contacts with counterparts and diplomatic relations as soon as possible.
• Promote innovative relations in the economic and technological fields, and to this end, work to reopen liaison offices in the two countries, as was previously the case for several years until 2002.
