Morocco Reports 5 Swine Flu Deaths as Health Minister Calls Situation ’Normal’

The number of deaths due to the A/H1N1 flu has just reached five. This would be normal, according to Anas Doukkali, the Minister of Health. There would, according to him, be nothing exceptional because most of the deaths would concern vulnerable people and that this is trivial in the middle of the flu season.
"Unfortunately, in this flu season, we can see deaths," these are the words of the Minister of Health, in a statement given to the MAP. It is now 5 deaths, mainly of vulnerable people, that the ministry has recorded, whether in public or private healthcare facilities.
The Ministry of Health reassures by indicating that it "continues on a daily basis to carry out epidemiological surveillance at the level of the 375 health centers to monitor the evolution of the flu", specifying in passing that until January 31, this evolution "has been normal compared to previous years".
The minister did not fail to ask for more vigilance from people considered vulnerable, namely: the elderly, children between 6 months and 5 years old, pregnant women, people suffering from chronic diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and kidney and respiratory failure. He recommends, in addition to "healthy behaviors" (such as thoroughly washing hands or sneezing into a tissue), to get vaccinated against the flu.
Anas Doukkali also specified that the H1N1 flu is the dominant subtype this year, and that it is the case in all countries of the world.
