Morocco Reports Surge in COVID-19 Cases as Testing Expands

After recording 227 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, a sense of panic has gripped Moroccans. However, according to a specialist doctor, the new incidence level is rather a good indicator.
In a statement to the Akhbarona website, Najoua Benyahia, coordinator at the Ministry of Health and member of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, confirmed that "the increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases is a good indicator".
"This reflects the kingdom’s shift to a higher gear in managing the pandemic, by conducting massive screening of the population thanks to the large quantities of devices acquired by the ministry," she specified.
The expansion of screening to the 5 hospital centers in the kingdom will make it possible to diagnose a maximum number of people in record time, she said, adding that this will have a positive impact on the mortality rate.
