Morocco Reports Slight Uptick in COVID-19 Cases, Remains in ’Epidemic Plateau’

Dr. Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, provided a new update on the epidemiological situation in Morocco, marked by a slight increase in new infections last week.
The number of new cases thus went from 809, from November 22 to 28, to 859 cases, from November 29 to December 5, an increase of 6.18%, the expert said.
However, he specified, it is not time to panic. Although new infections are appearing, Morocco is still in the inter-wave phase, and more precisely in a so-called "epidemic plateau" phase, which means a "stagnation".
As for the number of Covid-19 screening tests, it increased by 4.48%, going from 79,844 (November 22-28) to 83,423 (November 29 - December 5). The number of deaths recorded went from 13 to 14 cases, an increase of 7.69%.
During the same period, the vaccination centers administered 179,287 vaccine doses. The vaccination pace is still declining and the vaccination centers are emptying, warns the specialist.
