Morocco Reports Over 1,200 Road Accidents in One Week, 11 Fatalities

The week of June 29 to July 5, 2020 recorded 1,270 road accidents in which 1,766 people were injured, including 55 seriously, and 11 died. These figures were published by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the institution, these accidents are mainly caused by driver inattention, failure to yield the right-of-way, pedestrian inattention, speeding, changing direction without using a signal, driving under the influence of alcohol, and improper overtaking, in a word, non-compliance with the highway code.
During the same week, the security services recorded 30,869 fines and drew up 10,254 reports, during control and repression operations of offenses. 20,615 transactional fines were also collected during the same operations.
The DGSN indicates that "the sums collected reached 4,503,575 dirhams. It also noted the impounding of 4,345 vehicles, the seizure of 5,708 documents and the withdrawal from circulation of 201 vehicles.
