Morocco Reports 33% Drop in Weekly COVID-19 Cases as Omicron Surge Eases

After experiencing a peak in infections, Morocco entered a decline this week. The number of weekly Covid-19 cases recorded in the country decreased by 33.72%, from 49,760 cases from January 17 to 23, to 32,982 cases the week of January 24 to 30.
For more than seven weeks, the number of infection cases remained very high until the saturation of intensive care. But according to the latest figures, the time is for the decline in weekly cases.
The trend is also downward in terms of the number of active cases, with 46,610 people on Sunday, January 30, 2022, compared to 68,032 a week earlier (-31.49%). As for the number of tests performed, it went from 203,352 to 151,149 tests between the week of January 17 to 23, and during the week of January 24 to 30, it experienced a 25.67% decrease.
Regarding the occupancy rate of beds reserved for critical cases, it is currently 14.60% compared to 11.40% a week earlier. The total number of cases treated increased from 596 to 767, an increase of 28.69%.
Regarding the number of deaths, 230 cases were recorded between January 24 and 30, an increase of 47.44% compared to the previous week. The number of people cured increased by 44.26%.
