Morocco Reports 66 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Infections Rise to 8,997

66 new coronavirus cases were recorded on Wednesday, June 17 at 6 pm in Morocco, according to figures presented by the Ministry of Health. The number of infections now stands at 8,997, more than three months after the appearance of the first case in the kingdom.
These new infections affected 6 regions, namely Casablanca-Settat (+33), Marrakech-Safi (+19), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma (+10), Fès-Meknès (+2), Oriental (+1), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (+1).
In addition, 56 new recoveries were recorded on Wednesday, one less than the number on Tuesday, against a single death. The mortality rate in Morocco continues to decline and now stands at 2.37%. As for the recovery rate, it is approaching 90% and largely exceeds the global average.
It should be noted that four Moroccan provinces whose epidemiological situation has improved are preparing to join the less confined Zone 1, after being classified in Zone 2 on June 10. These are Rabat, Skhirat, Témara and El Jadida.
