Morocco Repatriates Over 300 Citizens from Turkey Amid Pandemic

The Moroccan authorities are accelerating the repatriation of Moroccans stranded abroad. 313 people, including babies and children, arrived on Tuesday at Tétouan Saniat R’mel airport on board three planes from Istanbul.
As part of the repatriation of Moroccans stranded abroad due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus, several compatriots have (finally) returned after more than three months away from their respective families. Three other planes landed on Tuesday evening at Tétouan airport with 102, 104 and 107 Moroccan citizens on board, respectively, stranded in various cities in Turkey, reports the Map. The beneficiaries of this operation were targeted on the basis of humanitarian criteria.
According to the authorities, the operation was carried out in full compliance with the precautionary measures and the health protocol in force. As was the case for their compatriots who arrived a few weeks earlier from other countries, these new repatriates, equipped with their protective masks, completed the customs formalities and recovered their luggage smoothly in compliance with the instructions of social distancing and barrier gestures.
After the usual formalities at the airport, they then boarded buses to hotels located on the Tamuda Bay coast under the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq. In this hotel establishment, they will be subject to quarantine.
