Morocco Reopens Borders: Vaccination and PCR Test Required for Entry

Morocco announced the reopening of its borders on February 7, but under conditions. Here are the details provided by Professor Said Afif, member of the Scientific and Technical Committee for Anti-Covid-19 Vaccination.
As a guest on "L’Info en Face", the specialist indicated that the modalities of this reopening will be the same as those used elsewhere. "There will certainly be a PCR test 48 hours before the trip in addition to being fully vaccinated," he said, noting that this second aspect has been adopted by virtue of a resolution from the last meeting of the scientific and technical vaccination committee.
Addressing the issue of the vaccination campaign, the expert stressed that "scientists now agree that vaccination consists of three doses and no longer two for all people over 18 years of age, and this, beyond four months after the date of administration of the second dose," adding, however, that there will be exceptions for people who have been infected after receiving two doses of the vaccine, provided they present documents attesting to an infection dating back less than a month.
Regarding the possibility of implementing other conditions to enter the Kingdom, Prof. Said Afif explains that "the symptoms after an Omicron infection appear 48 to 72 hours after the infection. If we apply these two conditions, there will be no need for isolation or other precautionary measures."
In addition, the professional said that the epidemic has dropped sharply in several regions like Casablanca-Settat. "Let’s resume our lives and keep the barrier measures! I call on the elderly who have illnesses to go get their third dose, because that will allow them to be 98% protected from severe forms of the disease," he insisted.
