Morocco’s Rental Market Shows Mixed Trends: Apartment Prices Drop, Furnished Units Rise

The rental market in Morocco has shown signs of a slow recovery. However, disparities persist depending on the cities.
According to the rental tensometer published by Mubawab, the rental price index for furnished apartments has increased by 2 points while that of apartments has decreased compared to the trend observed a year ago.
According to experts, the rental price of an unfurnished apartment is on average 7,200 DH per month, down 8% year-on-year, while the monthly rate for an unfurnished villa is 20,800 DH, down 8%.
The demand ratio nationwide has thus seen a slight decline, going from 3.72 to 3.01 on average. This ratio represents the growth potential existing in each area, it is pointed out.
In this trend, the cheapest rents for unfurnished apartments are found in the cities of Errhamna, El Jadida and Oujda. Conversely, the most expensive rents are still in Bouskoura, Rabat and Casablanca.
