Morocco Releases 80,000 Rainbow Trout to Boost River Biodiversity

As part of the valorization and preservation of Morocco’s natural heritage, some 80,000 rainbow trout have been released into sources of the Oum Er-Rbia river.
The operation, carried out in coordination with the National Center for Hydrobiology and Fish Farming based in Azrou and the Moroccan Federation of Ecological Fishing, is part of the implementation of the axes of the "Forests of Morocco" strategy, reports the MAP.
The 80,000 rainbow trout, each 8 centimeters long, have been released at different locations along the Oum Er-Rbia river. The objective is to strengthen biodiversity and encourage fishing in inland waters.
The initiative involved the participation of the Khénifra National Park and several members of NGOs interested in biodiversity and environmental protection, including the Sources of Ecological Fishing Association of M’rirt and the Fly Fishing Club of the Middle Atlas, the same source points out.
