Morocco Rejects New Lockdown Despite Rising COVID-19 Cases

While all indicators are currently in the red, members of the Moroccan government extensively debated on Monday the need for a return to confinement. However, 3 ministries took the floor to reject the proposal.
According to the information relayed by Akhbarona, the Ministers of the Interior, Industry and Economy called for more flexibility, knowing that a return to confinement is likely to weigh heavily on the national economy and social peace.
For his part, the Minister of Health did not hide his concern about the alarming epidemiological situation, stressing that the resurgence of critical cases is likely to put both the fragile health infrastructure of the country and the medical staff, who have been on the front line for five months already, to the test.
It becomes more than evident, according to the conclusions of the media, that the Executive is heading towards an alternative solution, sparing the national economy on the one hand while trying to manage the second epidemic wave that is looming on the other.
