Morocco Reinstates COVID-19 Restrictions Amid Rising Cases

All the restrictive measures announced by the government to combat the spread of Covid-19 and its variants have been in effect since yesterday, Friday, July 23rd. Moroccans will have to comply with them under penalty of heavy fines or prosecution.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Technical and Scientific Committee and given the worrying increase in the number of infections and deaths recorded in recent days, the Moroccan authorities have reinstated the restrictions, just after Eid Al Adha, according to a government statement.
These measures include a ban on nighttime travel throughout the Kingdom from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., except for people working in vital and essential sectors and those representing urgent medical cases.
In addition, travel between prefectures and provinces is conditional on presenting a vaccination passport or an administrative travel authorization issued by the competent territorial authorities, in addition to the ban on parties and weddings, as well as funerals, with a maximum of 10 people during burial ceremonies.
These measures also include respecting a maximum of 50% of the capacity in cafes and restaurants, public transport and public pools, while gatherings and activities in open spaces must not exceed 50 people, with the obligation to have an authorization issued by the local authorities in case of exceeding this number, the statement adds.
While emphasizing that the danger of the spread of the pandemic is still present and ongoing, especially after the appearance of new variants in the Kingdom, the government notes that the situation requires strict compliance with all the guidelines of the public authorities and all the preventive measures adopted by the health authorities.
