Morocco Receives 30,000 Exemption Requests for New Military Service Program

The phase of census of conscripts for compulsory military service ended on June 7, after a two-month period. Out of the 130,000 registered, 30,000 candidates have requested to be exempted from military service.
According to the daily Al Massae, the requests for exemption are currently being examined at the administrative level, within the wilayas, prefectures and provinces concerned. Supporting documents for exemption must accompany each request.
130,000 candidates, including 13,000 girls, volunteered by filling out the online forms. Despite the many requests for exemption, the recruitment campaign for conscripts is a real success, due to the quota of 15,000 candidates set by the authorities.
Military service promotes equal opportunities between citizens aged 19 to 25 who meet the required conditions, as well as fair regional distribution.
