Morocco to Receive 2 Million Sinopharm Vaccine Doses, Boosting Vaccination Efforts

Morocco will receive, in the next few days, two million additional doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. At the helm, two Royal Air Maroc (RAM) dreamliners that took off for Beijing on Saturday.
787-9 dreamliners from the national company Royal Air Maroc (RAM) are ensuring flights AT3874 and AT3876 to deliver, in the next few days, two million additional doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine to the kingdom. This delivery will bring to three million the number of doses received out of an order of 10 million to be delivered between April and May 2021. This new delivery will allow Morocco to accelerate its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus which has meanwhile experienced a slowdown.
Morocco will also receive, in the coming days, a second batch of AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the COVAX program of the World Health Organization (WHO). In total, 657,000 additional doses. The kingdom had received a first batch of 300,000 doses of vaccine thanks to the COVAX mechanism, on April 8. The number of vaccine doses allocated to Morocco under this program amounts to 1.6 million.
As of May 8, 5,473,809 people have received the first dose, while 4,390,752 have already been given the second dose. The vaccination campaign is now extended to people aged between 50 and 55 years old.
