Morocco to Receive 17 Million COVID-19 Vaccine Doses by Year’s End

In Morocco, things are becoming clearer for the Covid-19 vaccination campaign. The kingdom will receive a first batch of vaccines before the end of 2020.
In total, 17 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine will be received before the end of 2020, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. The newspaper uses an interview that the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb gave to another Casablanca media and reveals that Morocco has signed two agreements that will allow it to receive 17 million doses before the end of 2020. In detail, 10 million doses of the Sinopharm Chinese vaccine and 7 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
With this first delivery, 8.5 million people will be vaccinated. Morocco will receive other deliveries of Sinopharm and Astrazeneca, which will allow it to continue the vaccination campaign. The objective of this campaign is to vaccinate more than 80% of the population against the coronavirus.
The first phase of this operation concerns frontline personnel, namely health personnel, public authorities, security forces and national education personnel, as well as the elderly and people vulnerable to the virus. The second phase will take into account the rest of the target population according to their age. Vaccination is free for Moroccans.
