Morocco to Receive First AstraZeneca Vaccine Shipment from India This Week

Morocco is about to receive its first batches of the AstraZeneca vaccine. A round-trip flight Casablanca-Bombay of Royal Air Maroc is scheduled for January 21 and 22 to transport this vaccine manufactured under license in India.
Initially scheduled for January 15 and 16, this flight has been postponed for unknown reasons. It will be operated by a Dreamliner chartered to transport the refrigerated containers reserved for this type of operation.
According to Le360 citing a source close to the Ministry of Health, the problem is at the supplier level. "We are ready on all fronts and the necessary logistics have been in place for several days. We are just waiting for a response from the supplier," the same source said.
For the time being, no official information has been communicated by the supervisory ministry. Yesterday, the Minister of Health, during a telephone interview, admitted receiving too much pressure from the hierarchy due to the delay in vaccine delivery. Khalid Aït Taleb also did not want to communicate another official date for fear of disappointing the Moroccans again.
To date, only the AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine has received the green light from the Moroccan health authorities on January 6.
