Morocco Ranks Among Top 30 Safest Countries Globally, Leads Africa in Security

Morocco is ranked among the 30 safest countries in the world, due to its good resilience and effective management of Covid-19.
This ranking is the conclusion reached by the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) in the ninth edition of the strategic dashboard it has produced this year.
In detail, the report indicates that the kingdom remains the sixth most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Similarly, it ranks in the top 30 of the safest nations in the world and is considered the safest African country this year. A positioning attributable, in part, to the kingdom’s good management of the health crisis.

The study also took into account the overall security aspect of the kingdom. On this subject, the IRES stated that Morocco has marked a decline in its positioning under this index. "This could be explained, among other things, by the instability of the regional environment," it is pointed out.
Regarding terrorism, the report revealed that Morocco, despite its efforts in this area, has been in the "very low impact" category since 2019. "This situation could be linked to the terrorist attack perpetrated in Morocco in 2018, concerning the murder of two Scandinavian tourists by individuals pledging allegiance to the Islamic State."
