Morocco Ranks 4th Globally in Unauthorized WiFi Use, Study Finds

Morocco is the only African country in the ranking of countries that use their neighbors’ WiFi network. This is revealed by a study conducted by the Global Consumer Survey of the German statistics platform Statista.
With a positive response rate of 9% of the population, Moroccans and Swiss occupy the 4th place in the ranking of countries that use their neighbors’ WiFi network. Morocco is the only African country to appear in this ranking. This is explained by the fact that it is the country with the highest internet penetration rate in Africa.
The champions of this practice are the Europeans. The Dutch and Belgians (16%) top the top 3, followed by Mexicans who reach 14%. "This is more than double the share measured in the neighboring countries, France and Germany, where respectively 6% and 7% of Internet users admit to breaking into a nearby wireless network," notes Statista. "We note that it is generally the Europeans who are the most fond of this practice, while the United States and China have the lowest rates of Internet users using their neighbors’ WiFi (3% and 2% respectively)," the German company also indicates.
Statista conducted this survey among adults between 2021 and 2022 in several countries and had between 1,000 and 7,000 respondents.
