Morocco Ramps Up Preparations for Operation Marhaba 2025 Diaspora Return

Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, declared on Tuesday at the House of Councillors that all measures are being taken for a successful organization of Operation Marhaba 2025.

In his response to oral questions during the weekly session at the House of Councillors, Bourita indicated that 29 ships from seven maritime companies will ensure 12 connections from ports in Italy, France and Spain as part of this year’s Operation Marhaba, specifying that nearly 28 million dirhams have been allocated to improve reception infrastructure at the port of Tanger-Med.

The minister also assured that strengthening security and safety during the Transit Operation is a priority for the government, emphasizing that controls will be reinforced at borders and that MREs will benefit from close support in the 24 reception centers that will be set up for the occasion, including 18 on national territory and 6 abroad. Additional human resources will also be recruited, in accordance with the Royal High Instructions, he announced.

The government member further informed that, as in previous editions, Moroccan consulates will be open on weekends and holidays throughout the Marhaba Operation period, which runs from June 15 to September 15, adding that mobile consulates will be set up "to support this large-scale operation, placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for the benefit of three million citizens."

Health vigilance will be maintained during this Operation, Bourita continued, indicating that specialized teams will be positioned on roads and in rest areas, with the objective of "improving this operation year after year, so as to meet the ambition of His Majesty the King." To ensure the success of this edition’s organization, the National Transit Commission, chaired by the Ministry of the Interior, has held several thematic sectoral meetings, he recalled, noting that a Moroccan-Spanish meeting took place on May 29 in Cadiz to finalize the last details of the Transit Operation organization.
