Morocco Ramps Up COVID-19 Testing to Nearly 10,000 Daily as Lockdown Easing Nears

Morocco is stepping up its fight against the new coronavirus. According to the figures released this morning by the Ministry of Health, nearly 10,000 tests have been carried out since last night.
Between the figures published Thursday afternoon and those of this morning, the Moroccan health authorities have carried out 9,784 tests, the highest figure since the appearance of the 1st case of covid-19 in Morocco in March.
Between March and mid-April, Morocco had never exceeded 200 tests per day. It took until April 20 to reach 1,000 tests, then May to reach 3,000 daily tests.
And these tests will likely accelerate in the coming days, as the fateful date of deconfinement approaches. The authorities are playing against the clock, all the more so as it will be very difficult to get the Moroccans to accept a new extension of the state of emergency.
