The Council of Government has adopted, on Thursday, a decree providing for an immediate increase in the Guaranteed Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMIG) and the Guaranteed Agricultural Minimum Wage (SMAG) in line with the negotiations held with the unions.
These measures will improve the incomes of Moroccans, according to Aziz Akhannouch, according to whom it is an immediate 5% increase in the SMIG in the industry, trade and liberal professions sectors.
Thus, the SMIG rises to 2970 DH. It will experience a new increase in September 2023, affirms the head of the Executive. As for the SMAG, it increases by 10% and goes from 76.70 DH per hour to 84.37 DH.
During the Council, the government also decided to reduce the conditions for obtaining the retirement pension, which now goes from 3240 to 1320 days. Insured persons who have reached the legal retirement age (and who have less than 1320 days of contributions) will also be allowed to recover their share of contributions.
