Morocco’s Railway Revolution: Billion-Dirham Makeover Transforms Casablanca’s Transit Landscape

In Morocco, an ambitious 1.45 billion dirham program has been launched for the construction of three new generation train stations in Casablanca, Benslimane and at Mohammed V Airport.
This program is part of King Mohammed VI’s strategic vision for the development of the transport system and the strengthening of the attractiveness of the kingdom. It aims to modernize infrastructure and strengthen the interconnection between different modes of transport, while taking into account the requirements of sustainable development.
At a total cost of 700 million dirhams, the Casablanca-Sud station will have six platforms and ten railway tracks, as well as 20,000 square meters of outdoor space and a parking lot with a capacity of 700 cars. This station is an important hub connecting the high-speed Al Boraq trains, long-distance lines, regional trains, as well as the new "Aéro-Express" carrier which will connect the "Casa-Port" station to Mohammed V Airport in just 15 minutes.
The main train station in Benslimane will be built near the Hassan II stadium in order to meet the collective mobility needs during the major sporting events to come, particularly the 2030 World Cup. At a cost of 450 million dirhams, the station will have a capacity of 12 million passengers per year, or an average of about 160,000 passengers per day, with a parking lot that can accommodate 300 cars.
A new station will also be built at Mohammed V Airport. At a cost of 300 million dirhams, the infrastructure will have a capacity of 5 million passengers per year and will be equipped with a parking lot that can accommodate 550 cars, which will enhance the passenger experience and reduce travel time between the city and the airport. These three stations should be operational within a year in order to revolutionize rail transport in Morocco and in the Greater Casablanca region in particular.
