Nearly 50,000 people are being prosecuted in court by the various public prosecutor’s offices in the kingdom for violating the state of health emergency.
According to the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, of the total of 49,274 people, the rate of prosecutions in a state of arrest does not exceed 4.83%, while that of prosecutions in a state of freedom is around 95%. It also specifies that the use of pre-trial detention against certain persons (2,379) was justified by the fact that in addition to the violation of the state of health emergency, they had committed other offenses such as attacks on persons, theft, drug trafficking or violence against officials responsible for law enforcement.
According to the same source, the public prosecutor’s offices have opened 107 judicial investigations resulting in legal proceedings against 80 people, while the other investigations are ongoing as part of the fight against false information.
