Morocco Proposes 92% Anti-Dumping Duty on Egyptian PVC Imports

The Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to apply a provisional anti-dumping measure of up to 92.19% on Egyptian PVC.
Following an anti-dumping investigation initiated on November 27, 2024, the competent Moroccan authorities discovered that Egyptian PVC is being imported into Morocco at dumping prices. The investigation reveals a significant increase in the volume of PVC imports from Egypt during the examined period compared to national production and consumption, leading to a decrease in the prices of locally produced PVC.
This situation has affected the PVC sector in Morocco, which "has experienced a remarkable deterioration materialized by the effective degradation of some of its economic and financial indicators during the examined period, notably the loss of market share and a drastic decrease in return on investment and the continuous degradation of profitability," indicate the authors of the anti-dumping investigation.
Based on these data, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is considering applying a provisional anti-dumping measure on Egyptian PVC, at 74.87% for the producer-exporter Egyptian Petrochemicals Company and at 92.19% for other Egyptian producers-exporters. As part of the investigation, those concerned can submit their remarks, comments, or additional information to the ministry no later than May 22, 2025.
